Powdered Biocide Additive
Description
AUSFRACOCIDE 100 is an effective, low-cost dry antimicrobial agent. It is used as a preservative in both terrestrial and offshore drilling muds and packer fluids to control contamination and degradation of a wide range of gels and fluids, including fracturing, enhanced oil recovery, injection, drilling, waterflood, workover, and completion fluids. AUSFRACOCIDE 100 may be used to inhibit the growth of spoilage bacteria in guar-based or other polysaccharide-based fluids.
Note that AUSFRACOCIDE 100 should be protected from temperatures in excess of 140°F (60°C), and the container should be closed when not in use. AUSFRACOCIDE 100 causes eye and skin irritation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling. Wear goggles or face shield and rubber gloves when handling. AUSFRACOCIDE 100 is harmful if swallowed or absorbed through the skin. Please refer to the material safety data sheet (MSDS) for more instructions.
Application
AUSFRACOCIDE 100 is best added to frac or flush water tanks before or during water transfer. Though the biocide bag is readily water-soluble, some agitation is required to ensure that treatment reaches all of the fluid. Recommended dosage levels in relatively clean water range from 2 – 5 bags per 25,000 gal. (94,625lt) of base fluid. Previously gelled fluids or those with heavy bacterial contamination may require higher doses.
